Chronic illness
Chronic illness is a general term describing the length of duration of a disease’s symptoms. Chronic illness is not a name for any particular disease. Basically, chronic illness is any disease that has a long term effect on the body. The word Chronic comes from the Latin word ‘Chronos’ meaning time. Some chronic illnesses, tend to be hereditary, and some are environmental. People can fall ill later in life with a long term illness or even can be born with a chronic disease.
Chronic illness has various type, from diabetes and AIDS to arthritis and persistent fatigue, from asthma to lupus and lung disease. Medical science has made great strides in developing effective treatments for the physical effects of these diseases, meanwhile many victims still face a staggering challenge to their mental and emotional health.
It is not necessarily a person with a chronic illness will always be sick. Each chronic illness affects the body differently.
